Let’s celebrate Earth day through the blossoming trees
The painter, writer and romantic critic John Ruskin claimed:
«Nature is painting for us, day by day, pictures of infinite beauty, if only we have eyes to see them».
Since the first half of the nineteenth century, with the spread of Romanticism and the poetics of the Picturesque, landscape painting was affirmed, in which nature was represented as a quiet and welcoming place, in perfect harmony with the human being.
About a century later, Henry Matisse, in the field of expressionism, was inspired in his paintings by the classic myth of the golden age, dreaming of an ideal world where the joie de vivre reigns supreme, symbolized by his surreal circle of bodies.
Today, April 22, the 51st World Earth Day is celebrated, designed to raise awareness about respect for the environment and the protection of the planet in general, which in recent times has been particularly mistreated because of human selfishness. Mother Earth has always given us her beauties, we should preserve and love her.
